Wired and Wireless has released the Data-Linc CIX system, designed to offer an industrial-grade automation I/O extender that provides direct PLC connection via communication ports to I/O points.

When connected to a PLC, the network is ready to operate after structuring the message as if reading and/or writing to an integer at that node. The CIX completes the process.

The CIX uses SRM wireless that offers simplified, low-labour start-up, maintenance and growth for I/O in both the 900 MHz (CIX6400) and the 2.4 GHz (CIX6500) ISM licence-free bands. Wired remote expansion is also available (CIX/EXP).

The CIX6x00/M, receives data from the PLC via its serial port using Modbus RTU or DF1 or via its ethernet port using Modbus TCP/IP or ethernet/IP. Each remote provides eight discrete inputs, eight discrete outputs, four analog inputs and four analog outputs. A full network with 16 CIX remotes provides a total of 384 I/O points.

Discrete inputs are self-sensing dry contact. Discrete outputs are open collector common emitter (sinking) and the 12-bit resolution analogs can be configured for 0-20, 4-20 mA and 0-10 VDC.
