Directors appointed
Steve Adcock, CEO of the Electronics and ICT Association, says the association has appointed its first board of directors. Six directors have been appointed and represent a strategic cross-section of the electronics and ICT industry in addition to academia.
The directors include Donald Kay, Scott Hicks, Che Metcalfe, Geoff Rohrsheim, Peter Charlesworth and Andrew Parfitt.
The association has about 10 major projects underway. One of them has involved signing an agreement with SME Gateway, a national organisation established to grow Australian small to medium enterprises through winning contracts and delivering contractual outcomes in the defence, ICT and mining business sectors.
The South Australian electronics and ICT industry employs more than 18,000 people and includes more than 1200 companies.
Adcock says, "The electronics industry is growing faster than any other industry in the state and a 2007 SACES Export and Workforce Survey indicated that export revenue was $1.3 billion. The impact of this is amplified when you consider that exports for the electronics and ICT industry are projected to increase to $8 billion by 2013."
