Two new options for network-enabling local or remote serial devices
10 April, 2007 | Supplied by: Inventis Technology Pty Ltd
The Multenet Serial Data Buffer connects to a serial port on devices such as PABXs and allows users on an attached LAN (either local or remote) to log into that device and retrieve the stored data. Based on the PocketPAD serial-to-ethernet converters, which simply stream serial data over ethernet (or internet), the Data Buffer stores and forwards serial data when a TCP session is opened with the LAN connection port, which means devices on networks where a TCP connection is not always available (eg, a PABX on a remote site where there is no LAN administrator monitoring the serial command port) can still have historical data captured and made available on demand very inexpensively.
